This add-on adds a new horror-themed progression and entity: the Wendigo: a night-hunting monster that attaches itself to players who consume human flesh.
The Wendigo system contains the curse progression, items, armor, decoration and behaviors that create a tense risk/reward loop. Players who eat human flesh slowly advance a corruption meter that ultimately summons their personal Wendigo at night. Defeating the Wendigo yields materials to craft powerful “Wendigo” bone armor and survivability items.
The addon includes:
- Wendigo (Entity) - a tall, gaunt, deer-headed nightmare that stalks its marked player at night. Hostile, high health, and dangerous at close range.
- Human Flesh (Item) - a consumable similar to rotten flesh that increases the corruption counter. Sourcing is balanced: players drop a few pieces on death.
- Wendigo Loot: guaranteed Wendigo Skull, Wendigo Bones (2–5), and a Wendigo Heart (≈25% chance). Bones craft armor; Heart is a rare offhand item.
- Wendigo Bone Armor Set (Helmet/Chest/Legs/Boots) - crafted from wendigo bones + other components; full set grants the Night Hunter bonus: night vision while night, a small speed buff at night, particles, and enhanced abilities in darkness.
- Curse Progression & Stages - eating flesh raises the counter; stages trigger audio/visual effects and gameplay changes (whispers -> stalking -> marked). At the final stage the Wendigo will be summoned to hunt the player at night.
- Cure Mechanic - defeating your marked Wendigo clears your curse.
Drops & crafting
- Guaranteed: Wendigo Skull (helmet) — decorative & wearable; also placeable as a trophy block.
- Bones: 2–5 per kill — used to craft armor pieces. Wendigo Armor requires bones + leather as desired.
- Heart: ~25% chance — rare offhand item that grants continuous saturation while held; also used for a late-game consumable or to craft endgame upgrades (Charm of Hunger Resistance).
Armor set
- Full set detection grants Night Hunter: night vision during night, speed boost at night, unique particles and sounds, and other optional bonuses like increased damage in darkness. Works only at night by default, but causes hunger.
Death & balance
- On player death, 0–2 Human Flesh drops (configurable). This keeps temptation in the loop and propagates the curse in multiplayer.
- Wendigo is high risk: high damage and special effects; make sure drops and crafting costs balance its threat.
