Raid’s Stuff

Addon Description

Raid’s Stuff is a Vanilla+ Add-on that adds a lot of RPG elements such as new weapons, more stats, and consumable items to the game alongside tweaking vanilla features like enchanting, combat, and food to focus on combat and exploration.

Of course, because not everyone wants the vanilla features to be changed, there is also a “no vanilla changes” version of the Addon available to download as well.

New Features

  • A badge system (called emblems).
  • A couple new consumable items (items that are a one-time-use like potions; NOT food).
  • A couple new monsters to fight.
  • A few new blocks to decorate your base with.
  • More available materials to make gear with like emeralds.
  • New materials to make gear like Ruby and Brass.
  • New stats for weapons and tools.
  • New armor
  • New tools like Scythes, Hammers, and Mattocks.
  • New weapons like Battleaxes, Halberds, and Katanas.
  • Scrolls that make getting enchanted books easier.
  • Spells.
  • The ability to “infuse” gear with materials like amethyst and redstone.

Changed Vanilla Features (These are NOT in the “no vanilla changes” version)

  • The hunger bar has been replaced with a Stamina bar that recharges automatically and drains when sprinting.
  • Food now heals you directly alongside replenishing Stamina. Sleeping also heals you.
  • The Enchanting Table’s crafting recipe now uses End Rods, locking it to post end-content.
  • Fishing and Librarian villagers can no longer give mending books.
  • Structure loot will include custom items. Nothing has been removed, though.

New Features

1 - A badge system (called emblems).

Emblems can be found in structures throughout the world. They provide passive buffs to the player when equipped. Buffs range from gaining certain effects when doing an action such as attacking or falling to changing how you engage with certain tools and items entirely. You can equip up to three Emblems at a time, and some emblems change their effects depending on whether you have multiple of the same one equipped. To equip an emblem, you simply place it in one of the three left most slots in your inventory (the most left column, right below your armor).

2 - New Consumables

A few consumables have been added to the game. These can be crafted using simple materials. They give special effects when used or otherwise activated.

3 - New Monsters

A few new monsters have been added that behave very differently than the vanilla ones. They are a little gimmicky, but there are not very many of them and they do not spawn very often.

The first new monster is Goblins. Goblins are tiny, neutral mobs that spawn in groups during the day and fight other monsters. They can spawn with Wooden or Stone Swords, Crossbows, and with Wooden Armor. Goblins can be bartered with Rubies, and give various grasses, woods, and stones in return.

The next is Wandering Spirits. Wandering Spirits are transparent, hostile mobs that can only be killed at night. They mostly spawn underground in complete darkness or in Soul Sand Valleys. They will phase through blocks and fly toward the player when nearby. Wandering Spirits do not deal a lot of attack damage, but can be a nuisance if the player does not have any torches.

Next is Mimics. Mimics are small, blocky creatures that spawn in groups underground that look like stone or other ores. Trying to mine a Mimic, or mining a block nearby will cause it and all other Mimics nearby to transform into dark, blaze-like creatures that attack you. Mimics’ attack also gives blindness. Upon death, Mimics will sometimes drop blinding rods, which can be crafted into the Blinding Staff or blinding powder, an ingredient in Smoke Bombs.

Finally, there are Armored Zombies and Trumpet Skeletons. Armored Zombies are just zombies that have an increased chance to spawn with iron armor and swords. Trumpet Skeletons are skeletons that have a trumpet instead of a bow. They also make funny sounds!

4 - New Blocks

Raid’s Stuff does not really focus on the building aspects of Minecraft; however, it does add a couple new blocks. The first is colored Quartz. Wool, concrete, and terracotta all have a vast 16 color options to choose from; however, despite all these choices, Minecraft is lacking a solid pastel palette for building. That is where colored quartz comes in! By dying a quartz block, you can get a pastel colored block to build with! Every type of Quartz block now has 16 color variants you can use!

There is also Waxed Grass. Minecraft’s grass has many different hughes and colors depending on the biome you find yourself in, but despite the large variety, your builds are stuck using the grass color of the biome you're in. Waxed grass fixes this by allowing you to “wax” your grass, flowers, saplings, and foliage to be a certain color. Waxed blocks will keep their biome color and can be placed anywhere. To wax a block, simply put it and some honey comb in the crafting table alongside the corresponding biome leaves.

5/6 - More available materials and new materials to make gear with.

Raid’s Stuff does not focus much on adding new materials, though there are some fun additions to the game. These materials have unique stats and abilities that make them different from the vanilla ones.

The first material to receive gear is Emerald. Emerald gear is better or equivalent to iron. The biggest upside to Emerald gear is that it is not lost upon death. It’s like having Keep Inventory on for a couple items! In addition to gear, a special kind of bundle called an Emerald-Lashed Bundle can be crafted using emerald, string, and leather. An Emerald-Lashed Bundle will also not be lost upon death, including whatever is put inside of it.

The next material to receive gear is Obsidian. Obsidian gear is not made on its own. Instead, a piece of Diamond gear is surrounded by Obsidian in the crafting table to make it. Obsidian gear is better than netherite in terms of stats. It is a huge upgrade! And even better, obsidian gear has infinite durability. While its base stats are incredible, though, obsidian suffers from one huge drawback: it cannot be infused or enchanted; its base stats cannot be improved in any way.

The final material to receive gear is wood. Wooden tools already exist; however, wooden armor does not. Wooden Armor has little durability, but has a powerful bonus ability: it absorbs all damage you take. While wearing any wooden gear, all incoming damage is converted into durability, like a wearable shield. Additionally, unlike other tools which use only their material, Wooden armor is crafted using wood and some iron ingots.

The first new material is Brass. In all honesty, Brass gear exists because it used to be copper; however, when Minecraft officially added copper gear, I had to change it. Brass is made by combining copper with iron (it's actually made by combining copper with zinc, but I did not want to add zinc in too). Brass has better durability than copper and can mine whatever an iron pickaxe can, but still at the speed of copper.

Next up is Ruby. Ruby gear is better than iron, but worse than diamond. Rubies can be found underground past Y-level 30 and requires at least an iron pickaxe to mine. Other than gear, Rubies are used to craft Emblems and barter with Goblins.

7 - New Stats for weapons and tools

Raid’s Stuff adds a couple new stats to items: Bonus Abilities, Range, and Recovery Speed. Bonus Abilities are quite simple. They appear at the bottom of an item's lore simply to add an ability or effect to an item. Abilities can range from giving a dash or swing attack to a weapon to allowing it to shoot out a projectile. Abilities are activated by right clicking or doing the relevant equivalent for other devices. Abilities also have cooldowns so they cannot be spammed. Range is a stat that will only appear if an item has an ability. It determines how far an ability will reach.

Recovery Speed is a little complicated. It is mostly a combat related stat, but also affects Stamina recharge rates and mining too. Recovery Speed is calculated as a sum total of all currently held items and equipment, and determines the time in between your attacks. A negative recovery speed will cause you to have to wait a small amount of time in between each hit, and will cause you to lose Stamina when hit. On the other hand, a positive recovery speed will cause you to regain stamina faster and gain stamina when attacking.

8-10 - New armor, tools, and weapons

There are so many new weapons. I really like adding weapons. In total, there are 9 new craftable armors, tools, and weapons.

Starting with armor, currently there are only two new pieces of armor. The first is Gambesons. Gambesons are a special garment worn underneath armor that cushioned people from the armor they were wearing. In Raid’s Stuff, Gambesons take the equipment slot of leggings and halve the penalty time given from negative having a recovery speed. They are crafted using wool and come in all 16 dye colors of the game.

(Pictures of what Gambesons look like and their crafting recipe. Without the armor, they kind of look like pajamas!)

The next new armor is the Mystic Robe. The mystic robe amplifies the power that spells have. It is occasionally dropped from witches and does not do much else. It is planned to be reworked in the future alongside spells.

(Picture of Mystic Robe)

Because most tools also double up as weapons, tools and weapons will be covered together. The first new tool is the Battleaxe.  As a tool, the Battleaxe is best used to destroy large chunks of wooden walls in houses. It mines in a 3x3 pattern, allowing for quick and easy holes to be created in a wall or ceiling, or just simply destroying it entirely.  As a weapon, the Battleaxe is best used for fighting large groups of mobs all at once. While it may have a low recovery speed, its right click ability, Swing, does a far reaching, low damage sweep in front of the player. While the Swing does not do a lot of damage, it will stun monsters in place, allowing the battleaxe’s high attack damage to quickly take out any high value targets, like baby zombies, easily.

The next tool is the Katana. As a mobility item, the katana acts as a short ranged Ender Pearl, Instantly “Dashing” (Teleporting) players a short distance, dealing a small amount of damage to any mobs in the way. It is best used for jumping over small gaps and negating fall damage. It’s also surprisingly good at dodging ranged attacks from skeletons or Ghasts. As a weapon, the Katana is okay. It deals slightly less damage than a sword, but has a positive recovery speed, allowing players to naturally regain stamina when attacking from the get-go, no redstone infusion required. The dashing makes it much easier to get up close to skeletons and other ranged mobs.

Next is the Halberd. As a tool, the Halberd is best used to chop down large trees. It mines two blocks at a time instead of one, making chopping down spruce and birch trees much easier. The Halberd really shines as a weapon, dealing solid attack damage and insane poison damage with its Jab ability. The Halberd is best for dealing lots of damage to crowds.

Next are Scythes. As a tool, the Scythe  is very good at harvesting crops, mining in 5 blocks wide and 2 blocks out. Not much else to say about it—its a Scythe, what did you think it would do? As a weapon, the Scythe deals massive damage and has an incredibly wide swing. You are guaranteed to hit any monster in front of you with the Scythe’s swing, it’s huge! Additionally, if you hit something with your swing, you will regenerate some stamina.

Hammers are a common tool added to the game, but Raid’s Stuff provides a unique version of them. As a tool, the Hammer is best at strip mining. It mines in a 3x3 grid, allowing for more blocks to be mined at once and more changes to find ores. Hammers, however, have a pretty high Recovery Time, so pickaxes will mine faster in the long run. As a weapon, the Hammer is incredible at stunning targets. Unlike the Battleaxe which stuns monsters using its swing ability, the Hammer will damage and stun any monster you attack alongside anything else near it. The Hammer also has an insane amount of attack damage too. Hammers are kept in-check by their Attack Cooldown, which unlike Recovery Speed, completely stops the Hammer from attacking again for a considerably longer duration.

Next up are Daggers. Daggers are a very unique type of weapon. They are the only weapon that can be dual wielded, which means that you can put one in your offhand and either another in your main, or have a different weapon entirely. When holding just one dagger (in either hand), anything you attack will get weakness. Holding two daggers at the same time, however, will also give you strength.

The next tool is the Mattock, and it is the only tool that is just a tool, not a weapon. Mattocks are the Raid’s Stuff equivalent of multitools. They can mine dirt, wood, and stone all at the same rate. What holds Mattocks back, however, is that they cannot take pickaxe or axe enchantments. They cannot get efficiency or fortune and are stuck at their base mining speed.

The final new tool is the Staff. Staffs are unique because they do not follow the traditional crafting system. There is no stone or iron or diamond staff. Instead, staffs have a progression that looks somewhat like this:

Wooden -> Bamboo->Bone->Amethyst

\-> Blaze/Breeze/Blinding

Staffs act as a hybrid between a melee and ranged weapon, but really shine in their unique variants, which have some incredible bonus abilities.

11 - Scrolls

Scrolls are a brand new form of obtaining Enchanted Books, and replace the Enchanting Table for the pre-End City portion of the game (the Enchanting Table’s crafting recipe has been altered to include End Rods, locking it to after players kill the dragon). Scrolls can be found in various structures throughout the world, and have Enchantments on them that craft the corresponding books. Higher level scrolls can be crafted using 4 lower level ones with the same enchantment (i.e 4 Sharpness IV scrolls make 1 Sharpness V one). Occasionally a blank scroll will be found, which can be given any enchantment surrounding it and a corresponding item with diamonds in a crafting table. Blank scrolls can also be obtained via villager trading. When crafting books, scrolls are not consumed, so once you have a certain scroll, you can craft as many books as you want.

12 - Spells

Spells are like potions, but instead of giving a small effect for a prolonged amount of time, spells give a huge effect for a very short time. Spells are also renewable, so once you have one, you do not need to get more. Casting a Spell requires Energy Orbs, which can be crafted using materials found in the Nether. Getting Spells is simple: they can be crafted by surrounding a specific item with gold and glass in a crafting table.

13 - Gear Infusions

To further customizability, armor and gear can now be infused with either Redstone, Lapis, or Amethyst. Infusing gear will boost its stats and sometimes gives new passives. To infuse a piece of armor or a tool, simply surround it with the corresponding item in the crafting table.

Amethyst infused gear will double a gear's durability and give +1 Damage and Range to tools, and +1 Armor to armor.

Redstone infused gear will halve the cooldown of any tool and give +0.5 Recovery Speed to tools and +0.2 Recovery Speed to armor.

Lapis infused gear will double the enchantment luck of any gear and give it a bonus effect where you get xp when that piece of gear is used (up to three levels per equipped gear)

Changed Vanilla Features

1/2 -Stamina (Hunger and food reworks)

The hunger bar has been replaced with the Stamina bar. This bar will drain when you sprint and otherwise refill when doing anything else. A positive Recovery Speed stat will cause the bar to refill faster, and a negative one will cause you to lose Stamina when hurt.

Because you no longer need to eat to maintain hunger, food will now heal you! The amount of health healed depends on the type of food eaten.

  • Cooked Meats will instantly heal 6 health
  • Raw meat will poison the player, causing them to lose 1 health.
  • Baked Goods will heal 12 health across 30 seconds
  • Crops and Cookies will quickly heal 3 health.
  • Soups will instantly heal all health

3-5 - Enchanting Table changes

The Enchanting table now requires End Rods to be crafted. This change is in order to give scrolls and other weapons and materials more time to shine in the early and mid game. Enchantments can still be found, but getting the most ideal gear is now a late game goal.

6 - Structure loot will now contain custom loot.

Scrolls and Emblems have a chance to spawn in vanilla structures, meaning that the loot tables for these structures have been altered. (I just wanted to mention that just in case another add-on does the same thing).
