Dorios' Basics

Part of the UtilityCraft addon pack, this module focuses on early-game survival tools and progression.
Use Pebbles to get Cobblestone and Gravel, Sieves to sift ores, and the Crucible to produce Lava and Obsidian. Generate water with the Sink, break down blocks with Hammers, and light up large areas with the Big Torch. Includes plenty of helpful recipes to kickstart your journey.

Pebbles

Using a Wooden or Stone Hammer, sneak and interact with the ground (grass, dirt, gravel, or stone) to obtain Pebbles like:

  • Stone Pebble
  • Gravel Pebble
  • Diorite Pebble
  • Dirt Pebble
  • Granite Pebble

Collect enough of one type to craft it back into a full block—perfect for early-game block generation when resources are limited.

Hammers

Hammers are essential crushing tools in Dorios' Basics. Use them to break down blocks into simpler forms:

  • Cobblestone → Gravel
  • Gravel → Dirt
  • Dirt → Sand
  • Netherrack → Crushed Netherrack
  • Cobbled Deepslate → Crushed Cobbled Deepslate
  • End Stone → Crushed End Stone

Great for generating siftable or craftable materials in early-game progression. Combine with Sieves for optimal resource farming!

Flint Knife

Craft Flint using 3 Gravel in your inventory crafting grid.
Then use a Flint Knife to break leaves and obtain Fiber.
Combine 3 Fiber to craft String—perfect for early-game crafting without needing spiders!

Mortar - Getting Water

The Mortar is a new early-game utility item used to extract water from saplings.

  • Crafting Recipe:
    • 3 Cobblestone
    • 1 Stone Pebble
    • (Shaped in a crafting table)
  • Usage:
    • Put 2 Saplings, 1 Glass Bottle, and 1 Mortar in your inventory crafting grid.
    • You'll get 1 Water Bottle.
    • The Mortar is not consumed in the process.
  • Getting the water:
    • Pour the Water Bottle into a Cauldron.

Sieve

The sieve filters blocks like gravel, sand, or dirt to extract useful drops such as ores or seeds.

  • Place a mesh inside the sieve.
  • Put the block you want to filter on top.
  • Placing sieves in a 5x5 group (up to 25) lets you use them all at once by interacting with just one.

Crucible

The crucible converts cobblestone into lava when placed over a heat source.

  • Add cobblestone and wait for it to melt.
  • Use a bucket to collect the lava, or a water bucket to make obsidian.
  • Heat sources and their strength:
    • Lava, Flowing Lava: 4
    • Soul Fire, Soul Torch, Soul Campfire: 3
    • Fire, Campfire, Magma Block: 2
    • Torch: 1

Sink

Crafting a sink gives you an infinite source of water, ideal for machines and automated crop setups.
