Make your worlds more challenging with Champions Arise, an expansion that brings stronger enemy variants along with a new structure and unique items to the game. Put your skills to the test!

Champion Mobs

This Add-On brings stronger variants for all mobs in the game, called Champion Mobs. These come in four ranks and can have one of 21 different effects.

All champion mobs will feature the following:

  • More health
  • Increased attack damage
  • Higher speed
  • Fire immunity
  • Additional loot drops
  • Additional experience drops

Champion Effects

As said, when mobs spawn, they have a chance of spawn as Champions, and every Champions has one of the following effects:

Infestation:  On death, silverfish will spawn, and the attacker will get the infestation effect.

Poison: Adds the poison effect to the attacked player, with a random duration and intensity.

Blindness: Gives the blindness effect to its target

Leaping: The mob will jump around in the direction of its target.

Magnetism: Nearby players get pulled in the direction of the mob.

Breezing: Shoots wind charges at its target.

Blizzard: Shoots freeze charges that slow down its targets.

Thrust: Launches the attacked entity into the air.

Cleaving: When defeated, the mob will spawn copies of itself.

Healing: The mob heals other monsters around it, but not itself!

Dominion: Massive increase on speed and health.

Harming: On death, nearby monsters will receive a big amount of damage.

Iron: The mob becomes slower, but has a massive health boost and slows down its targets

Invisibility: The mob is invisible.

Striking: The mob deals lightning damage and sets targets on fire.

Freezing: When attacking an entity, the attacked entity will get slowness at a random duration and intensity.

Scorching: Will set the attacked entity on fire.

Rising: The victim gets the levitation effect for a random duration and intensity.

Decay: Gives the wither effect when attacking.

Vitality: Has a massive health boost

Champion Ranks

Each Champion mob can spawn with a rank. Ranks determine additional stat buffs for the Champion. You can tell what rank a Champion Mob is by looking at their name tag.

Champion Rewards

Defeating champion mobs will give you additional rewards than normal mobs, starting with a LOT of experience. Based on the rank of the champion, when defeated, the player will receive a good amount of additional XP as a reward, as well as extra loot, which can go be anything from small items, resources, potions, enchanted books and even unique items.

You can learn more about these in the items section.

How Do They Spawn?

Champion Mobs will spawn in your world if it's at least 5 days or older, meaning you have 5 days to acquire equipment to fight them once they show up. After those 5 days, the chance of Champion variants spawning will increase slowly until the 20th day, where the rate will stop increasing.

Additionally, the spawning of Champion Mobs is affected by the moon phase, receiving a small boost to the spawn chance, starting with the highest chance on a Full Moon, and the lowest on a New Moon.

NOTE: Mobs that spawn inside of the Champions Tower have a set chance of spawning, meaning the spawn rate of Champions inside the Champions Tower is separate from their "natural" spawn rate. And speaking of...

Champions Tower

Put your combat skills to the test in the brand-new Champions Tower, an overworld structure where you can fight Champion Enemies in each floor, with a Boss waiting at the top. You can get exclusive loot in this structure, including FOUR new weaponsenchanted gear, and more.

This structure can be found in pretty much all overworld biomes, with the exception of ocean or river biomes, as well as the Pale Garden and Mushroom Islands.

Each floor contains from two to three trial spawners, which will spawn hostile mobs for you to fight, including brand-new mobs exclusive to this structure. These spawners will give you custom loot, (different from the Trial Chambers), which include potions and items from this Add-On.

You can also obtain Champion Keys, which similar to Trial Keys, allow you to open the Vaults found at the top of the tower. It is worth noting that these do NOT work the same, meaning, a Trial Key only works on the Trial Chambers, and a Champion Key only works on the Champions Tower.

At the top of the tower, you can find the vaults containing the heavy loot of the structure, but along with them is a new boss named The Forgotten, which is there to protect the vaults, and it will not allow you to take it without a fight!

At the top of the tower, you might also see two Ominous Vaults, which similarly to the Trial Chambers, need a different key to be opened, in this case, an Ominous Champions Key. These ominous vaults contain most of the heavy loot in the structure, including the two new weapons.

You can get these by going into the tower with Trial Omen, which will make the enemies more challenging, but in exchange you will get better rewards from the spawners, which include the Ominous Champions Key.

WARNING: This structure is no small deal, for a normal completion, at least lightly enchanted iron gear is recommended, and if you want to try completing this structure with Trial Omen, at least diamond gear will be a requirement.

Champions Crypt

Put your combat skills to the test in the brand-new Champions Crypt, an underground structure where you can fight Champion Enemies within a typical dungeon crawl, with a New Boss waiting at the very bottom of the structure. You can also get the same loot in this structure as in the Champions Tower, including FOUR new weaponsenchanted gear, and more.

You can find it easily by spotting the entrance, which towers over the dungeon and has a direct opening.

This structure can be found in pretty much all overworld biomes, with the exception of ocean or river biomes, as well as the Pale Garden and Mushroom Islands.

Each room can container all sorts of different arrangements, they can include rooms with Trial Spawners that will summon hostile mobs for you to fight, including brand-new mobs .

Very bottom of the dungeon, you can find the vaults containing the heavy loot of the structure, but along with them is a new boss named The Crypt Keeper, which is there to protect the vaults, and it will not allow you to take anything without a fight!

At the top of the tower, you might also see two Ominous Vaults, which similarly to the Trial Chambers, need a different key to be opened, in this case, an Ominous Champions Key. These ominous vaults contain most of the heavy loot in the structure, including the four new weapons.

You can get these by going into the tower with Trial Omen, which will make the enemies more challenging, but in exchange you will get better rewards from the spawners, which include the Ominous Champions Key.

WARNING: This structure is no small deal either, it may be harder than the champions tower even!, for a normal completion, at least lightly enchanted iron gear is recommended, and if you want to try completing this structure with Trial Omen, at least diamond gear will be a requirement.

Items

This Add-On includes several new items, some of them to interact specifically with the mechanics of this Add-On. The items included are the following:

Champion Key

Effect: Can be used to open Vaults in the Champions Tower.

Ominous Champion Key

How to obtain: Obtained as a reward from the spawners inside the Champions Tower & Crypt while under the Trial Omen effect.

Shulker Fruit

Effect: When eaten, the player will get a Levitation and Slow Falling effect, quickly making the player ascend and descend safely. Ideal for climbing or escaping mobs.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from some Champion Mobs, but can also be found as loot in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Freeze Charge

Effect: When used, a freezing projectile will be shot, when it hits an entity or block, it will slow them down for a couple of seconds.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from some Champion Mobs, but can also be found as loot in the  Champions Tower & Crypt

Electric Charge

Effect: When used, an electric projectile will be shot, and when it hits an entity or block, it will summon a lightning bolt, as well as dealing +12 damage to the hit entity.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from some Champion Mobs, but can also be found as loot in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Mystic Apple

Effect: When eaten, the player will heal 2 hearts or 4 hp.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from some Champion Mobs, but is mainly found as loot in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Contained Heart

Effect: When used, the player will be fully healed and gain an additional 10 hearts of health for 10:00 minutes.

Contained Golden Heart

Effect: When used, the player will be fully healed and gain Absorption IV for 10:00 minutes.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from some Champion Mobs, but is mainly found as loot in the  Champions Tower & Crypt

Trial Omen Potion

Effect: When consumed, the player will get the Trial Omen effect for 60:00 minutes. Since to get it through Bad Omen requires you to go to a Trial Chamber, this is an easier way to get it and use the effect in the Champions Tower

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from the spawners in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Champion's Curse Potion

Effect: When consumed, the player will get the Champion's Curse effect, which causes all enemies around the player to spawn as Champion variants as long as the effect lasts. This can be used to challenge yourself and get more rewards, or event to maximize the effectiveness of mob farms.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from the spawners in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Note: This effect can be removed by drinking milk.

Vanishing Potion

Effect: When consumed, the player will get the Vanishing effect, which makes the chance of a Champion variant spawning virtually zero as long as the effect lasts. If this potion is used at the same time as a Champion's Curse potion, the effects of both will "negate" and the chance of Champions spawning the will be set at 50%, as long as both effects are had.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from the spawners in the Champions Tower & Crypt

Note: This effect can be removed by drinking milk. Additionally, if this potion is used inside a Champions Tower under the Trial Omen effect, the chance will only be lowered instead of nullified.

Champions Ring (Broken)

Effect: Has no effect in this state. Can be repaired by using 3 diamonds to craft it into a fixed state.

How to obtain: Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

Champions Ring

Effect: When this item is in the player's inventory, the player will gain a Speed I effect, along with a 50% damage increase to all attacks. In exchange, ALL mobs will spawn as champions as long as this item is carried. If a player attacks an entity while having this item, the ring will take damage, having a durability of 600. Once the durability runs out, the ring will become broken again.

How to obtain: Has to be crafted from a broken ring.

Notes:

The damage increase is not done through the Strength potion effect, meaning it can also stack with it.

If this item is used along with a Potion of Vanishing, the result will be the same as using Vanishing and Champion's Curse at the same time, meaning, the chance of champion mobs spawning will be 50%.

Quick Bow

Effect: Functions like a normal bow, but charges much faster, additionally, the player is NOT slowed down while using it, meaning it can be charged and held while sprinting. However, this bow cannot use tipped arrows.

Enchantments: All bow enchantments

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

Glass Arrows

Effect: Strangely sharp arrows that deal considerably more damage than normal arrows, however they can only be used with a Quick Bow and are not affected by the Infinity enchantment.

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

Assault Hammer

Effect: A melee weapon that deals +8 damage, can throw enemies into the air when hitting them. The thrust inflicted varies depending on the velocity the user has, meaning attacking something while falling causes it to get thrown higher in the air.. You can also interact with this item to give yourself a boost into the air in order to deal even more damage! If you successfully land a hit before you hit the ground, you will get no fall damage.

This weapon also has a chance of dealing critical attacks,  which cause the target to get slowness for a brief period as well as getting thrown way higher into the air.

Enchantments: This weapon uses pickaxe enchantments, meaning efficiency, fortune, and silk touch, but do NOT be fooled, this is not a pickaxe, and these enchantments have a very different effect:

Efficiency: Increases the damage dealt by the weapon by +1 each level.

Silk Touch: Reduces the weapon cooldown considerably

Fortune: Increases the thrust of the weapon, as well as increasing the chance of a critical attack with each level.

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower and Champions Crypt.

It now sports a 3D model!

Charging Spear

Effect: By all means a regular spear, with a higher damage value of  +10, however, when you start charging with this spear it will give you a HUGE speed boost, allowing you to deal massive damage. This attack has a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Enchantments: All spear enchantments

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

Striking Longsword

Effect: Just a sword by all means, however, it even has a slower attack rate, however, one swing can hit multiple enemies at once, with a base damage of  +8.

Enchantments: All sword enchantments

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from the Ominous Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

Windswept Baculum

Effect: A staff that when used will shoot multiples wind charges at the same time, resulting in a larger impulse.

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from defeating the Crypt Keeper in the Champions Crypt.

Glass Armor

Effect: A new armor set that, protection wise, is equivalent to diamond, is unbreakable. For each piece equipped, the user will gain a small effect boost when hurt

How to obtain: A random piece can be dropped when defeating the Forgotten Champion at the Champions Tower

Crypt Keeper's Hat

Effect: It's kind of fancy

How to obtain: Can be dropped when defeating the Crypt Keeper on the Champions Crypt

Hyper Enchanted Book

Effect: When used, it will summon a hyper enchanted item and give it to the player. This means the player can get all sorts of weird enchantments such as a pickaxe with Efficiency VI, a chest plate with Protection V, a sword with Sharpness VI, Lunge VI, Fortune IV among others.

How to obtain:  Can be dropped as a reward from both Ominous Vaults and Regular Vaults in the Champions Tower & Crypt.

BONUS - Actual Scarecrow

Can sometimes drop from killing Cursed Scarecrows, these are simply placeable decorative scarecrows.

Mobs

This Add-On includes a couple of new mobs that can be found in the Champions structures as well as the overworld, meant to add a little more uniqueness and challenge to it. These mobs include the following:

Detached

A new type of zombie that is slightly faster, and when defeated, will split into a head and a body that will both attack targets. The body attacks through melee, while the head will shoot fire projectiles.

Necrohowler

An undead mob that is slightly faster than other undead mobs and attacks through melee, however, if you look at in the "eye", it will give you the Slowness and Blindness effects, so be careful where you look.

Scarecrow

A simple mob that is very fast, but not very strong. Will hunt and attack players through melee attacks, and it might catch you by surprise, but the attacks are not that strong, and their health is not that much stronger either.

Revenant

A ranged attack mob that will shoot fire projectiles that deal a good amount of damage. However, their health is lower than most hostile mobs, so try to take them out fast.

Bisectoid

This, thing, is a very aggressive, very fast, and very strong undead mob. Be very careful around them and act quickly, since they will not allow you to take a breath.

Redeemed

It was looking for redemption, and found it. Can be found within the Champions Tower and Crypt as it's only true inhabitats, which means they'll defend it. These always spawn as a Champion Variant.

Betrayer

Rejected redemption. Can be found roaming the overworld like a Wandering Trader, and will trade with you some items from this Add-On, including Exploration Maps to both the nearest Champions Tower and Champions Crypt

The Forgotten Champion

One of the new bosses this Add-On brings. It has all sorts of attacks, going from sworded, ranged, wind charges, maces, and can even use the brand-new Assault Hammer. It has a good amount of health and will drop a good amount of XP.

Drop: On defeat, a couple of extra items will be dropped along with a random piece of Glass Armor. This is the only way to obtain it.

There are more mobs added with this Add-On, but the rest are just slight variations of existing mobs, so its not necessary to cover them here.

The Crypt Keeper

One of the new bosses this Add-On brings. It has all sorts of attacks, going from ranged magical attacks, to summoning plenty of monsters to defend itself. It has a good amount of health and will drop a good amount of XP.

Drop: It now can drop the Windswept Baculum as well as its hat. These items can only be obtained this way

There are more mobs added with this Add-On, but the rest are just slight variations of existing mobs, so its not necessary to cover them here.

Compatibility

Champions Arise is compatible with ALL Add-Ons that correctly tag their hostile mobs as "monsters", which means that enemies from other Add-Ons can spawn as Champions as well

(Example of some Forsaken Oddysey mobs as Champion variants).

(Example of an enemy from Better On Bedrock as a Champion variant).

Achievements

As of Minecraft version 1.21.70, this Add-On can be used in a world without achievements being disabled, thanks to a change made in this version. However, this feature MIGHT get <mark class="pen-red">removed </mark>in future versions, although it is still uncertain.

Configuration

This release of the Add-On includes a brand new in-game menu, which allows the players to easily configure some aspects of the Add-On without leaving your world.

To access the settings menu simply type in chat: "/rev:championsmenu"

From this menu you will be able to access the following:

NOTE: The command works perfectly fine on survival, although for whatever reason it will not allow you to press TAB to autocomplete it

Preferences

Within preferences, which is only available if the player is an administrator, you can configure the following options:

  • Difficulty: Use a slider to increase or decrease the chance for Champion Variants spawning
  • Enable Additional Mobs: Allows the new mobs from this Add-On to spawn in the overworld naturally outside of the Champions Tower and Crypt, default is false

  • Idle Particles For Champions: Champions will emmit particles to indicate their effect, default is true
  • Champion Effects Cause Particles: Champions effects such as healing allies or pulling players will display particle effects, default is true.

Advancements

Finally, as a small bonus, this Add-On includes internal Advancements. These are simple goal posts that, when achieved, will grant the player with a certain amount of XP LEVELS:

  • Common: Grants 2 XP LEVELS
  • Rare: Grants 5 XP LEVELS
  • Epic: Grants 7 XP LEVELS

The full list of advancements can be seen in-game through the /rev:improvisedgunsmenu command

NOTE: These are rewards in XP LEVELS, not raw XP, meaning you will always gain this amount of levels no matter how much XP you have at the moment.
